Dan is a Senior Modeling Analyst at Energy Innovation, where he uses quantitative analysis to understand and publicize the importance of quality energy-policy design.

Dan focuses on model development within EI’s Modeling & Analysis program. He designs and builds new capabilities into the organization’s in-house energy model, the Energy Policy Simulator while helping partners adapt the model to new regions. Simultaneously, he leads the organization’s work with the Global Change Analysis Model, a global market-equilibrium model developed by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

While Dan has conducted research on policy in many of the 20 highest-emitting global regions, most of his work focuses on policy at the U.S. federal and state levels and in the European Union. His work has been cited by the nation’s top news outlets, including the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago TribuneBloomberg and Reuters. Dan has appeared on CBS News and NPR, and writes regularly for local outlets like the Richmond Times-Dispatch to bring important policy research findings to wider audiences.

Dan holds a B.A. in physics from the College of the Holy Cross and a Ph.D. in physics from Georgetown University. He is currently studying in an electrician program at a local trade school. Outside of work, Dan enjoys watching Mets baseball, hiking long trails across the world, and giving belly rubs to his dog, Zoey.
