ENERGY INNOVATIONS HELPS OCEAN SPRAY ACHIEVE ENERGY SAVINGS GOALS
On April 29, Ocean Spray celebrated the opening of its newest juice bottling facility in Lehigh Valley, Penn. Under construction for two years, the 300,000 square foot facility is the first beverage plant in the world that is run on hot water instead of steam, thanks to the work of our own Worthington Energy Innovations business. Energy Innovations developed the energy model and designed integrated energy systems for the entire facility to maximize energy efficiency and savings. This was largely possible due to the use of hot water boilers over traditional steam boilers. They expect to save Ocean Spray over $1 million in natural gas, electricity and water costs every year. During the winter months, the facility will use zero energy to heat the building through the use of Energy Innovations’ heat recovery process. The juice facility will produce over 30 million cases of Ocean Spray juice beverages annually.
An expected savings of over $1 million in natural gas, electricity and water costs every year.
